2012 Bicycles with Advanced Group carbon forks

On 2012-01-31, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced an expanded recall regarding 2012 Bicycles with Advanced Group carbon forks due to a potential fall hazard. This product sold new beginning in June 2011 for about $1250 to $2000. It was originally recalled on 2011-09-22.

What is the problem?

The brake component housed within the bicycle's carbon fork can disengage from the fork and allow the brake assembly to contact the wheel spokes while rotating, posing a fall hazard.

How can I tell if I own this product?

This recall involves the 2012 Tricross Sport and 2012 Tricross Comp model bicycles. The bicycles are various colors and have the brand name "Specialized" on the lower front frame tube. The model name "Tricross Sport" or "Tricross Comp" is on the top tube.

NOTE: Additional bicycle forks were recalled by the same company in November 2011.

These items were sold new⁺ at Authorized Specialized retailers nationwide from June 2011 through November 2011 for between $1,250 to $2,000.
