On 2010-04-21, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published a recall regarding Bunkie Mattresses due to a potential fire hazard. This product sold new beginning in July 2007 for about $30 to $135.

This was the 1st recall of products in the Twin, Full & Bunk Beds category in 2010. Since 2005, there have been approximately 20 similar recalls, involving about 600,000 product units.

What is the problem?

The mattress sets fail to meet mandatory federal open flame standard and pose a fire hazard to consumers.

How can I tell if I own this product?

This recall involves bunkie mattresses. The bunkie mattresses do not have any labels.

Crib Mattresses and Mattress Sets were also recalled for the same hazard.

These items were sold new+ at City Mattress and furniture stores in Puerto Rico from July 2007 through September 2009 for between $30 and $135.

What should I do if I own this recalled product?

First, stop using the item.

Consumers should stop using the mattresses immediately and return them to Tropical Bedding Mfg. for a refund.
