Recall: Club Car Golf, Hospitality and Transport Carts / Vehicles


On 2011-06-29, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published a recall regarding Club Car Golf, Hospitality and Transport Carts / Vehicles due to a potential crash hazard. This product sold new beginning in April 2011 for about $6000 to $11000.

This was the 1st recall of products in the Golf & Hospitality Carts category in 2011. Since 2005, there have been approximately 10 similar recalls, involving about 200,000 product units.

What is the problem?

The brake pedal mounting blocks can crack and separate, resulting in a loss of braking ability. This can result in a crash.

How can I tell if I own this product?

The recalled vehicles are model 2011 DS golf cars and hospitality and transport vehicles used for short-distance transportation. The Club Car has various models, colors and sizes including 2 to 6 passenger seating vehicles. The vehicles can be identified by the serial number, which is above and to the right of the accelerator pedal. A list of models and serial numbers included in the recall are listed below.

  • DS Electric Golf Car, IQ System / PowerDrive System 48, AQ 1042-139425 to 1051-160548
  • DS Gas Golf Car, AG 1042-139271 to 1054-160914
  • CafeExpress, AF 1039-133641 to 1051-159858
  • Villager 4, FQ/TG 1044-143850 to 1050-157489
  • Villager 6, Villager 6 Plus, KG/QS 1040-133698 to 1054-160812
  • Villager 8, MG/QE 1040-133677 to 1051-159571
  • TransPorter 6, JP/JQ 1041-136942 to 1050-158272
  • TransPorter 4, JS/JT/N/NG 1040-134403 to 1054-160949

    Several of these golf, hospitality and transport vehicles were also recalled in November 2010.

    These items were sold new+ at Authorized Club Car dealers nationwide between April 2011 and May 2011 for between $6,000 and $11,000.

    What should I do if I own this recalled product?

    First, stop using the item.

    Consumers should stop using the recalled Club Cars and contact the firm to receive free brake pedal replacement mounting blocks. Club Car is contacting all known owners of the recalled vehicles.

    Incidents & Injuries Reported as of Recall Date

    Club Car has received no reports of brake pedal mounting blocks breaking in the field. No injuries have been reported.
