On 2017-05-02, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published a recall regarding Gas-fired furnaces due to a potential electrical shock hazard. This product sold new beginning in September 2016 for about $850 to $1150.

About 4,000 units are involved in this Goodman Manufacturing Company L.P. gas-fired furnace recall. Learn more and find out what to do if you own this product below.

This was the 1st recall of products in the Central Heating & Cooling Units category in 2017. Since 2005, there have been approximately 10 similar recalls, involving about 500,000 product units.

What is the problem?

The blower motor is not grounded, posing an electrical shock hazard to individuals servicing the units

How can I tell if I own this product?

This recall involves 80% efficiency gas-fired furnaces sold under the Goodman, Amana and Daikin brand names used with home heating and cooling systems. The recalled products have model numbers beginning AMEH80, DM80HE, and GME8, and serial numbers beginning 1609, 1610, 1611 and 1612. The brand name is shown on the outside of the furnace, and the serial number is located on the label found by opening the furnace door.

These items were sold new+ at Goodman, Amana and Daikin heating and cooling equipment dealers nationwide from September 2016 through January 2017 for between $850 and $1,150.
