On 2012-07-26, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published a recall regarding Heath / Zenith Motion Security Lights due to a potential electric shock hazard. This product sold new beginning in September 2011 for about $30.

What is the problem?

Internal wiring can be damaged during installation, bulb replacement or adjustment, posing an electric shock hazard.

How can I tell if I own this product?

This recall involves Heath / Zenith 270¬į Motion Security Lights with model number SL-5414-WH. It replaces a standard outdoor wall mounted light fixture and is designed to turn on when motion is detected at night. The product has two cone-shaped lightbulb receptacles attached to a round mounting plate. A small, rectangular motion sensor is attached to the mounting plate between the lightbulb receptacles. The unit is made of aluminum and plastic. It comes in white only. The brand name and model number are on a label located on the back of the motion sensor.

These items were sold new+ at Home Depot Stores from September 2011 through April 2012 for about $30.
