On 2013-01-10, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published an updated recall regarding Jardine Cribs due to a potential strangulation and entrapment hazard. This product sold new beginning in March 2004 for about $220.00 to $330.00. It was originally recalled on 2009-01-06.

What is the problem?

The wooden crib slats can break, creating a gap, which can pose an entrapment and strangulation hazard to infants and toddlers.

How can I tell if I own this product?

This recall involves three models of Jardine wooden cribs with the date codes identified below. Cribs with other date codes are not affected by this recall. The date code and model number are printed on the label located on the inside of the bottom rail of the headboard or footboard.

These items were sold new⁺ at KidsWorld, Geoffrey Stores, Toys R Us, and Babies R Us stores nationwide, and at babiesrus.com, from March 2004 through January 2009 for between $220 and $330.

First, stop using the item.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled cribs and contact Jardine to receive a credit towards the purchase of a new Jardine crib. In the meantime, parents are urged to find an alternative, safe sleep environment for the child, such as a bassinet, play yard or toddler bed depending on your child's age.
