Recall: Pran Spice Powder Turmeric
On 2013-10-03, the FDA announced that OnTime Distribution is conducting a recall on Spice Powder Turmeric due to possible contamination with lead. The recalled products were sold under the brand name(s) Pran during an unspecified time period throughout the regions shown in the map below.
In recent months, there have been 29 food recalls due to potential contamination, including ground beef, salmon, cod and more. Additionally, there have been 32 food recalls due to other health hazards as well as 40 drug and medical device recalls.

OnTime Distribution Inc. of Brooklyn, NY, is voluntarily recalling PRAN brand Spice Powder TURMERIC because it was found to contain high levels of lead that could cause health problems to consumers, particularly infants, small children, and pregnant women if consumed. Recent analysis of the product found that it contained lead levels as high as 28 and 42 parts per million (ppm). Read More.
