On 2011-08-02, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) published a recall regarding Pogoplug Video File Sharing Device due to a potential fire hazard. This product sold new beginning in March 2011 for about $200.

What is the problem?

The unit can overheat or catch fire, emitting excessive heat, sparks, smoke or flames.

Instance(s) of fires, property damage have been reported.

How can I tell if I own this product?

This recall involves the Pogoplug Video file sharing device. The device is a black desktop electronics box, measuring about 2.5 inches wide, 7 inches deep, and 5.5 inches high. It is used to stream and share videos, photos, and music and to provide remote access to files stored on drives attached to the device. The device has the word "Pogoplug" on the side. "Model: Pogoplug Video" is listed on a label on the bottom of the device.

These items were sold new+ at Adorama, B&H, Best Buy, Buy.com, J&R, Pogoplug.com, New Egg, and Sony Style from March 2011 through June 2011 for about $200.

What should I do if I own this recalled product?

First, stop using the item.

Incidents & Injuries Reported as of Recall Date

Cloud Engines has received three reports of the units overheating. One device caught fire, one device emitted smoke, and one device melted, damaging the desk it was on.
