Jennifer has helped companies deal with crises, including product recall, for over fifteen years. She understands the business challenges when safety concerns arise and, as a mother of two young boys, she is passionate about improving recall effectiveness. In addition to her career experience, Jennifer has spent the last five years studying product recalls, the CPSC and the CPSA/CPSIA to identify and develop solutions to product safety problems.
Prior to founding WeMakeItSafer, Jennifer was an Expert (testifying/consulting) in Commercial Damages. Most recently, she was a Principal with ERSGroup and, before that, a Senior Consultant with Navigant Consulting.
As a business and litigation consultant, Jennifer worked with numerous companies in the consumer products, retail, technology, energy, telecommunications and insurance industries. Jennifer's cases included product recall, product liability, intellectual property infringement, breach of contract, and antitrust matters.
Jennifer graduated with Honors and as a Community Fellow from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business where, in addition to her MBA, she earned certificates in Entrepreneurship and in Management of Technology (MOT) - a joint curriculum program with the College of Engineering. Jennifer completed her BA early, in three years at UC Berkeley (cum laude) with degrees in Economics and Japanese. Jennifer also studied and conducted research in Economics at Oxford University (UK)
In addition to product safety and recall-related matters, Jennifer is a advocate and frequent speaker on issues concerning women in technology, mom entrepreneurs and education. Jennifer lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband, Laurence Toney, their two children and their Lab pup, Velvet.
