WeMakeItSafer to be Technology Voice at ICPHSO Symposium

February 17, 2012 — By

As a high tech company WeMakeItSafer is focused on building robust, intelligent tools to solve problems, specifically problems related to product safety and recall effectiveness.  It was the unnecessary, completely preventable injuries and deaths associated with consumers continuing to use recalled products that led Jennifer and Priyanka to attack this problem in the first place.

At the core of WeMakeItSafer is one question: How can we use technology to make recalls more effective in a way that protects consumers and rewards responsible companies?

It’s a tough problem, one which we have been researching and building technology to solve for five years now.  We were, therefore, extraordinarily pleased and honored to be invited to speak at the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO) annual symposium.  To share the stage with other well-recognized experts in the field is a testament to the tireless efforts of our dedicated team.

Our CEO, Jennifer Toney, will be bringing the technology perspective as she speaks alongside other stakeholders in the recall process, including KidsInDanger, Consumer Federation of America, Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Bugaboo and Costco.

Their session will be repeated twice on February 29th (Leap Day!) and is described as follows:

Effective Recalls: Pipedream or Reality

By almost any measure, recalls are not effective in removing dangerous products from use.  A recent look at the new SaferProducts.gov consumer incident database showed that one out of seven reported incidents involving children also involved products that have been recalled – products that are meant to be off the market and out of homes, yet clearly are still in use. This session will be an interactive session for participants to discuss successful recall tactics, barriers to effective recalls, elements of successful recalls and action steps that can be used by all product safety stakeholders to improve recall effectiveness.

Please join us at the conference in Orlando, FL, February 28 – March 2, 2012.   If you will be there, be sure to send us a note ahead of time so we can be sure to connect. info@WeMakeItSafer.com
