The Biggest, Most Dangerous and Most Talked About Recalls of 2012

February 2, 2013 — By

The new year is well under way, and we spent the first month of 2013 analyzing last year’s product recall data. Below are some summary statistics along with links to several Top 10 lists we think you will find quite interesting. Each list has a Top 5 image board for you to share on pinterest and facebook to help remind friends and family to check for recalls.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued over 300 recalls for about 350 different types of products in 2012.  In all, more than 59 million items were recalled due to safety violations, design flaws or unforeseen hazards that put their owners at risk. The good news is, now that we know about these problems, you can avoid future injuries.

If you don’t have the time to check 300 recalls to see if one of them might be yours, not to mention the thousands of recalls issued before 2012, take just a few moments to add your belongings to Items I Own, and the WeMakeItSafer system will check for past recalls, then keep monitoring in 2013 and beyond.
