Numbers presented are for the calendar years shown and include recalls announced by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

Approximately 50 recalls announced by the CPSC between 2006 and 2010 did not include unit-level and/or price-level detail. They were removed from the analysis. Values should be treated as "ballpark" estimates only.

Minimum and maximum prices are the absolute minimum and maximum cited in any recall during the year shown. A minimum price of 0 indicates that a recall involved a product that was given away for free. Average price is calculated by dividing the total estimated retail value of all recalls in a particular year by the total number of recalled units involved in calculating that value. See "Est. Retail Value of Consumer Products Involved in Recalls by Year" for more information on how estimated retail values are calculated.
