2015-11-06 (Published by NHTSA on 2015-12-01)
Recall Summary: BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 C 600 Sport scooters manufactured August 2, 2012, to March 31, 2014, and C 650 GT scooters manufactured July 30, 2012, to May 29, 2015. The front brake hoses on the affected scooters may kink and crack after turning the handlebars to the full left position repeatedly.
Hazard: If the front brake hose cracks it would leak brake fluid, reducing braking performance, thereby increasing the risk of a crash. However, the rear brake remains fully operational.
Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake hose with one that has a more flexible hose covering, free of charge. Parts are not currently available to remedy the scooters, but owners will be mailed an interim notification beginning December 28, 2015. A second notice will be sent when remedy parts are available. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.
Additional Info: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

In the affected motorcycles, the camshaft chain tensioner may not function properly, resulting in an engine stall.
Hazard: An engine stall may increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will replace the camshaft chain tensioner, free of charge. BMW distributed interim notification to owners on July 15, 2014. The recall is expected to begin in July 2014. Owners may contact BMW Customer Relations at 1-800-525-7417.

2012-12-04 (Published by NHTSA on 2012-12-04)
Recall Summary: BMW is recalling certain model year 2013 C600 Sport Maxi-Scooters manufactured August 7, 2012, through November 20, 2012. The fasteners on the front side trim panels may have insufficient strength to retain the panels at high speeds.
Hazard: If the panel separates it could interfere with riding and handling of the scooter and increase the risk of a crash. The panel could also become a hazard for other road users.
Remedy: BMW will notify owners, and dealers will reattach the left and right front side trim panels with stronger "snap-lock" fasteners. The recall began on January 10, 2013. Owners may call BMW at 1-800-525-7417 or email BMW at CustomerRelations@bmwusa.com.
Additional Info: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
